I’m like Donald Fagen - but with far less talent and not successful.
I can sing in multiple registers and play all instruments like Prince - but am not nearly as good at any of those things.
But now seriously: I do this for fun, but really wouldn’t mind if the fun got serious enough to become… even more fun.
Started playing Piano at 3 because of Mozart, Guitar at 15 because of Jimi Hendrix, bought a Bass the day after a friend showed me D’Angelo’s “Voodoo”…
Quit engineering college at 20 to learn composition and music production, and still ended up with a bigshot corporate IT job somehow… (*shrugs*)

Everything and anything. Seriously.
With previous bands (in Portugal) I’ve done cheeky funk covers of Dean Martin, candlelight bossa nova covers of Earth Wind and Fire, raunchy slide guitar blues covers of Michael Jackson, heartmelting acoustic covers of Bruno Mars…
Prince, Steely Dan, Phish and Vulfpeck are my main influences in genre-bending.
D’Angelo’s Voodoo album is simply perfect (Eric Clapton agrees, and “Clapton is God” so it must be true).
Sly Stone is somewhat of a role model; if I can ever make anything sound as smooth as “If You Want Me To Stay” I can die happy.
One day I may start an Afrobeat band and never “rehearse” again… jamming for hours is awesome when the groove is “just right”. I’m currently only 12-15 members short so… fingers crossed!
